“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”

It's "Parenting in practice — not just theory."

Simplicity Parent-Tot offers a time and place to step back from the busy pace of daily life and share intentional time with your child, age birth to five years old. Parents, grandparents, nannies and other caregivers are invited to experience our unhurried and relaxing morning playgroups while making connections with other little ones and their parents.

Our conversations explore helpful resources for child development and the large and sometimes overwhelming job that is called, "parenting." We often refer to learning and communication styles, Simplicity Parenting, Waldorf education, Montessori, Slow Parenting, Real Discipline, Conscious Discipline, and Attachment-Based Development. All of our playgroups are limited to a small group size: four to six families maximum, with two to three co-teachers leading each group. We consider our commitments to co-teaching and small groups discussion to be keys in the success of our parenting conversations. This also maintains supportive adult:child ratios and comfortable social interactions for young children.

Our morning rhythm includes creative free play, simple songs and verses, organic whole foods teatime, mutually supportive parenting discussions, baby doll circle time, and optional handwork/crafting activities for the adults. Please dress your child in short sleeves, long-sleeves, and sweater layers so that we can adjust for temperatures inside the classroom, and please bring slippers for both parents and children to wear indoors!

For more detailed information about our program, please read the Simplicity Learning Parent-Tot Guide.

*During the summer session and other schools' break weeks, returning families' older siblings are welcome to attend (extending each group's age range)

feedback from attendees

"I think the concept of accepting children's negative emotions and leaning into them during times of soul fever has had a quick and successful difference for my whole family."
